Recovery Radio Show Gains “Not-for-profit” Status,
Seeks Help to Battle No. 1 Social Disease in U.S.: Addiction
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (September 22, 2005) – The
Recovery Radio Show, a program of the Recovery Radio Ministries, gained
“not-for-profit” status this week, enabling the organization to seek
tax-deductible financial support to battle the No.1 social disease in
America: Chemical and behavioral addictions.
According to Bob Munck, executive director and co-host of
the Recovery Radio Show, addictions cost the U.S. more than $400 billion
every year--twice as much as cancer and four times as much as the
rebuilding effort resulting from Katrina.
“We are the first radio program on the air focused on
making a dent in the nation’s largest social problem,” said Munck, who
knows the pain—and costs—of addiction first hand. “Our program gives
addicts, and those affected by the addict, a safe place to listen, learn
or take action. We want to educate the community, partner along with
others on the road to recovery and battle addiction on a grass roots
level. But we need help.”
Now just six months on the air, The Recovery Radio Show is
one of the fastest growing programs in the country, with listeners in the
millions, spanning coast-to-coast in 11 markets. The program broadcasts
LIVE every Saturday from 6 – 8 p.m. PST, is available via the ABC Radio
Network satellite and may be heard from any computer with Internet access.
The flagship station in Los Angeles is KKLA, 99.5 FM.
This Saturday (September 24), the show will broadcast LIVE
from the “Art of Recovery Expo” in Phoenix, Arizona via affiliate KFNX-AM
(1100). Listeners may be on the air or seek advice privately during the
Recovery Radio Show by calling toll-free (888) 275-2240 or going online at
www.recoveryradioshow.com
Broadcasting alongside Munck is co-host Dr. Stephen Groth,
or “Dr. Steve,” who provides the medical—and often chemical—perspective as
well as direct personal recovery experience.
Headquartered in Aliso Viejo, Calif., the Recovery Radio Show is the voice
for recovery, broadcasting “reality radio” with mature subject matter,
dramatic LIVE calls and unscripted tips, tools and resources. To contact
the Recovery Radio Show during the week, call the main number (949)
